most challenging aspect?: I guess it would be just one of the questions for the analysis. "Does your piece say anything about distinctions among humans based on class, race, gender religion, etc.?" because Marc Chagall mostly tried to stay out of politics [in his case, the world wars]
What workd well, helped you learn?: doing the powerpoint and just using google docs in general.
Didn't work well, how to improve?: I think the description was kind of pointless. Since we're doing the presentation, which has visuals, why do we need somehting that says what it looks like, since we don't have any blind students?
Should it be taught again?: Sure, why not? i dont plan on repeating the grade.

oh crap! haven't really started on the analysis yet. hmm well i think i know what im going to do for it at least.
...gosh i dont know what im going to say for the second questio, 'what do humans hold' as in what? what kind of power do they have over other species? oh wait. it's what PLACE do humans hold... well, same issue i guess. what place, what place... hm well im going to have to think about that for a bit. for the rest, though i think im good. i think i can answer the rest.

3/17/09 ST. PATTY'S DAY!
I finished the written description! All I have to do is print it, which is awesome. I think I'm in love with google docs. I need to go to the library today to look at a couple sources in print because I don't have any of those, and I seriously need to work on my presentation, but I might just possibly maybe be done for thursday! Wootaha!!! [[personal exclaimation, you had to be there]]

3/13/09 or friday the 13th!
I started the description today, and I think I'm 2/3 of the way done, maybe more. [[hiphip hooray!]] Yes. Very exciting. I had already posted the picture, permanently, and I think I'm pretty much finished with the research. [[woot!]] yes this calls for a celebration. speaking of celebratons, tomarrow is pi day, or pie, if you prefer, and being the proud dork that I am, I brought a pumpkin pie to school. not my favorite, but oh well :]

MY DECISION
I have decided on Marc Chagall's "The Artist and his Model" for a few very good reasons.
While "Hera" is very inspiring, I'm a very colorful person when it comes to paintings and for this project, you need to be interested in the piece of art for quite a while [at least that's my impression] and I might possibly lose interest in "Hera" and it's artist. Marc Chagall had, to me, a very interesting life, perspective, and style, and of course vibrant use of color.
On a deeper level, I can get so much more out of "The Artist and His Model" than I may be could get out of "Hera", which, when I think of the painting, I think of the Greek Goddess Queen of course, and then I get into religions and human beliefs. While I could go on and on about human culture and belief and the need to know why we are here and how we got here, I won't.
Personally, I would much rather do a rant on our perception of Beauty, as Chagall illustrates, and how we try to harness it and copy it and shape it and make it and essentially BE it. I would much rather think about the question What is beauty? than the question Why are we here? because the latter of the two questions might possibly have an ugly answer. Don't get me wrong, I don't shy away from the morbid or tragic. Not at all. But for that question, I don't even know what I believe the answer is, so I couldn't argue a certain perspective, and my cynical side wants to disprove everyone with their beliefs. But the question, "What is Beauty?", well, I definitely have something to say about that.
Plus, there are just as many perspectives, just as many different views, and the question itself isn't any simpler. Both questions are equally unlikely to ever have an answer, the difference is there's only one I actually want to try and find an answer for.

DECIDING ON WHAT TO DO FOR ENGLISH CLASS
For Hodge's assignment, I think I'm going to do a painting by Marc Chagall, "The Artist and His Model", or perhaps "Hera" by Francis Picabia. I'm torn between the two, because to me, they both say something really profound about humans and our concept of beauty. Also, they're pretty but that's kind of besides the point, and saying that, my statement is a contradiction because the paintings themselves are asking, "What is beauty?" You could cut the irony with a knife.
